Architektur in Berlin

Welcome to the Registered Association of the Berlin Architecture Award

Objectives

The »Architekturpreis Berlin e.V.« (Registered Association of the Berlin Architecture Award) promotes international and transdisciplinary exchange concerning exemplary and trend–setting architecture, architectural culture, planning and urban development.

The history of the association is closely linked with the re–establishment of Berlin as the nation’s capital. Founded in 1994 by the architect Jan Rave (✝) and emerging from the »Bund Deutscher Architekten BDA–Berlin« (Association of German Architects–Section Berlin), the association—which sees itself as a circle of friends—offers a platform for broad segments of the public, and is open to anyone with an interest in architectural quality and who regards building as a cultural mission.

Every three years, the association advertises the »Berlin Architecture Award« to architects and clients of exemplary new architecture in Berlin. The distinguished new buildings singled out for commendation contribute to Berlin’s international renown.

The association’s membership supports and promotes its goals, in particular the »Architectural Award«, which is seen as an independent instrument of committed self-help.
