Der Neubau der zweizügigen Grundschule fokussiert eine offene Lern- und Lehratmosphäre. Über den öffentlichen Vorplatz an der ruhigen Idsteiner Straße betritt man das „Herz“ der Schule, einen großzügigen multifunktionalen Bereich.
Prominent am Eingang liegt hier im Sinne des Schulprofils der Theaterraum, welcher sich außerhalb seiner Nutzungszeiten per mobiler Trennwand öffnet und so auch als Pausenraum genutzt werden kann. Der Übergang zur Spiel- und Bibliothekslandschaft, welche zentral zwischen den Treppen ins OG liegt, gestaltet sich fließend. Dieser offene Raumzusammenhang ohne Einschränkungen für eine Möblierung wird durch ein innovatives Brandschutzkonzept ermöglicht. Anschließend finden sich übergeordnete Bereiche, wie Mensa, Verwaltung und Fachräume. Deren NAWI-Raum öffnet sich im Norden direkt zum Ökogarten, welcher aktiv in den Schulbetrieb einbezogen wird.
Auf diesem Sockel sind im Obergeschoss 3 Lernhäuser angeordnet, deutlich ablesbar an der Dachform. Hier gruppieren sich jeweils 4 Klassen-, 1 Förder- und 1 Teamraum um ein Lernatelier. Dessen zentrale Bedeutung, wird durch die Anordnung der Firste des Holzdachstuhls mit Raumhöhen von bis zu 4,40 m betont.
Das Material- und Farbkonzept beruht auf zwei Grundsätzen. Einerseits werden die Baustoffe Beton und Holz offen gezeigt. Anderseits unterstreicht eine Farbgestaltung mit den Komplementären „Rot“ und „Grün“ die Raumzonierung. Alle lebendigen, aktiven Bereiche der Halle werden in Rottönen angelegt, hier besonders auch in Konnotation zum Theater. Im Gegensatz dazu werden die ruhigen, konzentrierten Lernbereiche in Grüntönen gestaltet. Dies zeigt sich in der Fassade, aber auch in der Gestaltung von Wand- und Bodenflächen sowie der Einbaumöbel. Nur der Raum der Stille erhält eine Raumgestaltung in Lila, wodurch eine eigene Atmosphäre erzeugt wird, die die besondere Bedeutung dieses Raums zeigt.
Das Projekt zeigt, wie mit einem starken Konzept sowie disziplinierter Planung und Ausführung, trotz beschränkten Platzangebots und engen Kostenrahmens hochwertige Bildungsflächen geschaffen werden.
The newest building of the two-track primary school focuses on an open learning and teaching atmosphere. Through the public forecourt next to the quiet Idsteiner Straße you enter the "heart" of the school, a spacious multifunctional area.
Prominently located at the entrance and in line with the school's profile is the theater room, which by means of a mobile partition wall can also be used as a break room when not in use. The transition to the play and library landscape, centrally located between the staircases, is seamless. This open space without any restrictions on furnishing is made possible by an innovative fire protection concept. Subsequently you find the cafeteria, administration and rooms for art, music and science. The science room in the north opens directly onto the ecological garden, which is actively integrated into the school's activities.
On this foundation the upper floor accommodates three houses for learning, which are clearly identifiable by the shape of the roof. In each learning house 4 classrooms, 1 support room, and 1 team room surround a studio. The central significance of these learning studios is emphasized by the arrangement of the highest point of the timber roof with room heights of up to 4.40 meters.
The material and color concept is based on two principles. On one hand, the building materials, concrete and wood, are openly displayed. On the other hand, a color scheme using complementary colors "red" and "green" highlights the zoning of the spaces. All vibrant and active areas of the hall are designed in shades of red, particularly in connotation to the theater. In contrast, the calm and focused learning areas are designed in shades of green. This is evident in the facade as well as in the design of the walls, floors and built-in furniture. Only the “room of silence” is decorated in purple, creating its own atmosphere, that shows its special significance.
The project demonstrates, how a strong concept and disciplined planning and execution create high-quality educational spaces, despite limited space and tight budget constraints.
